You might have thought new Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe would have had a Q of directors eager to give her acting work â€" but that wasn’t the case at all.
The beautiful French actress, 33, strips down to her lingerie in August’s GQ magazine, where she reveals she spent years struggling to get on the big screen.
She says: “All the French agents told me, ‘No, you don’t look like a French actress, this will not work’.
“Even people who saw me in acting workshops and wanted to introduce me to people; when those people considered my picture, they said, ‘No, she will never work in France.’
“I don’t know what to say. I was not in the mould.â€
But the Bond producers clearly thought she looked the part and gave her the sexy role in the upcoming 007 movie SkyFall.
She said: “I kept hearing it all the time - Bond girl, Bond girl, Bond girl - and I thought, ‘Oh my God, what do people expect?
"Do they just expect someone who is pretty? What do they want me to do?’â€
But Berenice insists she won’t be stripping off for the cameras when she stars alongside Daniel Craig, 44.
With the Bond movies, you never really see nudity - they’re quite chaste, actually. Which is, to me, the best way.
“Nowadays you see too many naked women, all the time, everywhere. In video clips. It’s so boring!
"You lose this magic and suddenly a woman that is dressed seems way more attractive.â€
