This cutely intimate playing between Katie and Suri makes the pair look relaxed and happy.
Katie had been looking miserable to the point of dour recently but here she’s pulling faces to amuse her daughter and with her raised chin and steady gaze she looked more confident than she has for a while.
It’s good to see Katie laugh again and for mother and daughter to look so happy.
Their physical closeness here shows high levels of rapport, as does the eye-gaze, which is making Suri smile.
Katie started her Ârelationship with Tom looking like a slightly shy and Âsubmissive young girl, but she’s ended it as a woman who is looking newly Âconfident and independent.
It is reminiscent of the picture of Tom Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman after she was divorced from him.
That was an Âextraordinary display of what looks like celebration tinged with victory for an actress who is normally pretty demure.
In the shot, Nicole’s Âopen-mouthed grimace with her eyes shut and a half-frown makes her emotions look almost painful, although with her arms held out in a stretching gesture she seems to be relishing that feeling of release.
In both pictures, both women are displaying poses very much the opposite of what we’re used to seeing from them.
