Spice GIRLS fans look away now. Iâve been told the global girl band phenomenon will NEVER sing as a five-piece again.
The band, who this week reunited in ÂLondon to launch their musical Viva Forever, have apparently said farewell to any hope of reforming for a performance.
One close aide said it would âtake a miracleâ to get them to perform their hits live again.
A behind-the-scenes source tells me ÂVictoria Beckham â" who put in a moody appearance in London this week â" has Âdefinitely decided she will never perform again with Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Melanie C and Emma Bunton.
The source reveals: âMel B and Victoria havenât got on for years.
"They were part of the reason the Reunion tour ended early. And they didnât get on very well at all this week.
âAfter the launch of the Âmusical all the girls were miffed at Victoria for not Âwanting to be a Spice Girl any more.
âThe truth is Victoria wants to concentra te on something she has that brings her more confidence and joy â" her designing.
She has essentially blocked all the chances to reunite â" the Jubilee and the Olympics â" so the other four are all a little sour towards her.
âWhen it came to the big day of the launch on Tuesday Victoria was jet-lagged, Ânervous to be in the spotlight like that and desperately missing her daughter Harper.
"She just hasnât got any interest in the Spice Girls vehicle any more. And Âunfortunately it showed. They will never Âperform as a full band again.â
When I caught up with Mel B for cocktails at St Pancras ÂRenaissance Hotel she told me there was Âexceedingly good news for the girls in other areas.
Pre-sales figures for Viva Forever â" about a girl thrown into the spotlight on reality TV â" are outstanding.
Mel told me of an email from Âproducer Judy Craymer and writer ÂJennifer Saunders.
âIt told us that pre-sales figures of t he show were over £1million in 24 hours,â she revealed.
âItâs some sort of record Âapparently for a West End show that hasnât even begun.
âPeople donât even know what the show is about. Weâre all proud that there seems to be such a demand there for the Spice Girls still.
"Iâd love to work with the girls more. But itâs not down to me â" weâre all part of the band.
"You can expect a few surprises though as we get towards the launch of Viva ÂForever. Watch this space.â
Iâll be keeping my beady eye on that one, Mel!
Today's Spice Girls reunion should have been joyous... but Solemn Spice Victoria soured the mood Â
