Adele, Lily Allen and Katy Perry in line for The X Factor job, according to Twitter

Simon Cowell is obviously having some trouble when it comes to finding the fourth judge for this year’s X Factor series - being forced to rope in Geri Halliwell temporarily - so we thought we’d give him a helping hand.

The telly boss can get just about anyone to sign up (as long as they’ve got some sort of music career and personality... we know that doesn’t explain Louis Walsh) so why not just ask the public who they want to see on the panel?

We put it to Twitter and were bombarded with responses from you lot about who you’d most like to take Kelly Rowland’s spot and why â€" with a few celebs coming out on top.

It’s clear to see that all of you (apart from one Tinie Tempah fan) want a lady to take the fourth judging position alongside Tulisa, Gary and Lo uis, with a mixture of American and British female singers being suggested.

The most popular lady for the X Factor job according to you lot is Lily Allen â€" who will be straight talking, great with new talent, super stylish and strong enough to hold her own. She’s just had daughter Ethel, but Dannii Minogue managed to help Matt Cardle win with a newborn baby, so perhaps Lily can do it too? Saying that, she retired to live in the countryside with her husband, so we can’t see Lily being ready to give it up just yet.

Adele is another lady who is being suggested for the job, with you lot thinking her talent and personality is too good to ignore for the role.

Very weird. He always replies to us. Maybe.

Pink, Frankie Sandford and Pixie Lott’s names have been mentioned, but one lady you lot are dead keen on is Katy Perry.

Katy sat in for Dannii when she was giving birth to little Ethan two years ago and did a cracking job on the judging panel. But with another album on the way and ex-husband Russell Brand hanging about in London, we’re not sure the US star would be up for it.

Two other interesting suggestions are Gwen Stefani â€" think of the outfits â€" and Leona Lewis â€" who is so much more talented than most of the other winners… but sadly a tad boring.
