Sleeping around is nothing to boast about... That's Corrie Ken Barlow actor's advice despite his own womanising ways

Coronation Street star Bill Roache has advised other men to fall in love and not sleep around â€" despite his own womanising ways.

The actor, 80, who plays Ken Barlow, suggested on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories show he could have slept with 1,000 women.

But asked about his success with the ladies, he said: “I recommend you meet someone and fall in love.

“It’s no sort of life (sleeping around) and it’s not ­something to boast about.”

At Sunday’s Bafta awards, where Corrie won Best Continuing Drama, Bill also said he was worried people may now have the wrong ­impression of him.

He said: “A lot of people saw the offshoot of the show and think I went out and boasted.

"Piers Morgan came out about my conquests. You don’t boast about that.

"It shows a gross inadequacy, being unable to have a really loving and worthy relationship, so they missed that.”
