"It’s extremely raw right now": Chantelle confirms she and Alex ARE living in separate houses

Despite Alex Reid denying reports that he and Chantelle Houghton have split a month ahead of the birth of their first baby, her column in today’s new! magazine suggests otherwise.

Chantelle described her emotions as “raw” and says she has had an “upsetting and difficult week so close to having the baby”.

The Sunday People reported yesterday that Chantelle â€" who is eight months pregnant â€" walked out of the home she shares with Alex and returned to her Essex flat on Wednesday.

A friend is said to have told the paper: “She is absolutely devastated. She is in a complete state. She has moved back into her flat where she feels safe. She won't tell any of us what Alex has done.

“Whatever happened must be catastrophic because she’s never have fled her home without good reason.”

Alex quickly denied the reports on Twitter, calling them “untrue”. A statement on his website read: “Newspaper reports saying Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton have split are untrue. The couple are very much together and in love.”

Chantelle managed a smile last week... but not for long

However, Chantelle has now had her say on the matter… and it sounds as if something has gone seriously wrong in the relationship after all.

She wrote in her column for new! magazine: “You might have read reports saying that I am sleeping at my flat while Alex has been at our house.

“This is true and I have very good reason for that but I don’t want to go into any more detail because it’s extremely raw right now.

“It’s been a really upsetting and difficult week for me and not the best thing to have to go through when I’m so close to having the baby.”

Alex has been away stripping with Wildboyz (at least he's been absent for good reason...?)

Is anyone as confused as we are right now? Either Chantelle accidentally locked herself in that cupboard for so long that she can’t face going back to the £600k house she shares with Alex or he has done something fairly upsetting to his fiancé.

Chantelle added: “I’ll give birth in a sexy black nightdress.”

Not sure why that last bit is relevant, but at least Chantelle is feeling, er, positive about one thing.

Here’s to hoping the situation isn’t causing the baby any stress… and that Chantelle tells us everything in her column next week. But mostly the first bit.
