Nicole Scherzinger wipes the floor with (her new hair twin) Tulisa at her first official X Factor appearance

Nicole Scherzinger has made her first appearance as an official X Factor judge, rocking up to the red carpet at the Newcastle auditioning this afternoon.

The singer was snapped greeting fans outside the Metro Radio Arena, wearing the first exciting outfit we’ve seen on the UK X Factor for a while.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with Tulisa’s sense of style â€" she just never quite gets it right.

Meanwhile, the emerald toga-style asymmetrical minidress Nicole wore this morning is something we’ve actually found ourselves lusting after.

It’s almost like Cheryl and Dannii all over again… but not quite.

One thing that is a tad awkward, however, is that Nicole and Tulisa had matching hairstyles â€" as if both of their super long extensions had been plucked from the same glossy black unicorn.

And while Nicole’s dark curls made her frock look like an exotic dream, Tulisa’s didn’t quite suit the pale strapless midi-dress she was wearing.

Tulisa’s long style clashed with the candy-cane style number she had on â€" although we are large fans of those studded heels.

Oh and then there was Gary Barlow who wore various shades of grey… and Louis Walsh who wore a suit.
