Isle of fight: Ronan Keating manhandled by drunk at Isle of Wight Festival

Ronan Keating was grabbed by a drunken reveller in a late-night bust-up backstage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

The Boyzone star, 35, shoved the man away as he tried to lift him off his feet on Sunday night before security stepped in.

Yesterday a source close to Ronan confirmed the incident took place but said Ronan was very much the innocent party.

The source added: “Security escorted the man from the premises. Ronan did nothing to provoke him and reacted like anyone would do if some guy randomly did this to you.”

Ronan, 35, was at the festival to see Bruce Springsteen perform on Sunday night.

Earlier the star was seen drinking with fellow musicians Kelly Jones and Paulo Nutini, before carrying the party onto the Premier Inn hotel bar on the festival site.

Speaking before the bust-up, Ronan revealed: “I was meant to go home early but I was having such a good time. Bruce Springsteen in a legend and amazing live.

"I’m just with a few friends enjoying myself.”

He decided to finally call it a night at around 3am on Monday morning.

Ronan, 35, and former model Yvonne, 37, split late last year.

But they spent Christmas together in an effort to maintain normality for their kids Jack, 13, Marie, 11, and Abi, six.

Both parties took to Twitter on April 1 to confirm the end of their marriage.

Talking recently, Ronan told the Mirror that he had been “drinking all the f****** time” because of the stress of the split.

He said: “It’s been a horrible past few months.

“This has been by far the hardest thing I have ever had to contend with in my life, the hardest thing Yvonne and I have had to do together.

“The decision was horrible but it was for the best, and we are great now an d still very close.

“We really are friends and the most important thing is that the kids are OK and happy, that they’re not affected.

“I still see my kids, that side of things is completely fine â€" there are no issues.

“I’ve lost a bit of weight. I run a lot and basically I haven’t been eating â€" just drinking all the f****** time.

"It’s not healthy, really.”
