Childplay: Chris Martin says his kids stop him developing a rock star ego

Chris Martin and his Coldplay bandmates say their children stop fame getting the better of them.

Dad-of-two Chris said: “We played Wembley Stadium and I was like, ‘Wow, we are big rock stars’.

"But at six o’clock in the morning the kids were like, ‘Get me some pancakes. And I was like, ‘Oh, am I a rock star?’

“But that’s what hopefully keeps your music real.”

Chris, currently on tour in the US, added: “Just at the point where you would have got really big egos, we all have these little people who we are all responsible for and they keep us focused on what is really important in life.”

Guitarist Jonny Buckland added: “If you ever feel like you are big-headed as a rock star, you come back and your children and family have a very keen knack for making you feel very small again.”

Chris, 35, has two children Moses, five, and Apple, seven, with wife Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 39.

Chris said the band p lan to make an announcement about their future in the next few days - but it is unlikely to be a split.
