Adele mistook Elton John for a prank caller when he phoned her up

Adele has told how she once mistook Sir Elton John for a prank caller â€" and refused to talk to him.

The singer, 24, got a call from the pop legend before the Grammy awards where she won six gongs this year.

She said: “I had no idea who it was and he just started chatting away.

"I passed the phone over to a friend and I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s Elton’.

“It still cracks me up. It made me think, ‘My God, it’s another level now’.”

She also revealed that she had walked through London’s Trafalgar Square unrecognised wearing pyjamas.

She said she probably kept under the radar in floral tracksuit bottoms and a green coat because it was not her trademark black dress.

She added: “A couple looked but they were like, ‘No, she’s in colour and what would she be doing in Trafalgar Square on a Saturday in pyjamas?’?”

She also revealed that she wore four pairs of slimming pants Spanx at the Grammies.
