It took them eight years to get engaged but Hollywoodâs hottest couple donât seem to be in any hurry to tie the knot.
Brad Pitt was insistent that he and wife-to-be Angelina Jolie have no plans for a summer wedding, and are yet to set a date.
That olâ chestnut...
Speaking at the Cannes film festival â" without Miss Jolie â" the man with boyish good looks but an ageing sense of style revealed there is âno dateâ set for the wedding, despite many reports that it had been arranged for August.
âWe actually, truly, have no date!â he added, loudly, just to make sure we heard.
Explaining the long-awaited engagement, which they finally announced in April, he added: âItâs something that makes sense to us.â
Hmm. It all comes as Brad, 48, has been dubbed âBradzillaâ with regard to the wedding.
Allegedly the Oceanâs Eleven star has been nitpicking over details like helipads for guests to land on, a performance by Iri sh rockers U2 and Chinese fireworks .
But as the couple have two full time wedding planners to make the magic happen there really isnât any organising for them to do..
A source says: âTheyâre just putting off the inevitable.
"They could very easily leave it all in the capable hands of a professional planner but instead, theyâre letting it fall further into the distant future.â
The wedding has always been a big deal for the coupleâs children, Maddox, 10, Pax, eight, Zahara, seven, Shiloh, five and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
But Angelina, 36, seemed to be dragging her heels, noting that the kids have a Disney-influenced fairytale view of marriage.
The Changeling star has even admitted in the past: âWeâve explained to them that our commitment when we decided to start a family was the greatest commitment you could possibly have.â
Oh, and then thereâs that excuse that theyâre still waiting for gay marriage to be universally recognised.
Brad repeated it again yesterday. He said: âWeâre still hoping that we can figure out marriage equality in the States before that dat e,â So it might be some time yet...
Asked where Ange was while he attended the film festival, Brad, who calls himself a âfamily guyâ said: âSheâs not here right now. Sheâs prepping for a movie that starts pretty soon.â
You can never be too busy to plan a wedding, people. Ask any bride. (Except Angelina.)
