The sad news is that Johnny Depp and his long-time partner Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together.

The good news for the rest of us is that means Johnny and Vanessa are back on the market. Every cloud has a beautiful silver lining and all that.

A publicist for t he brooding American actor said in a statement tonight that the two "have amicably separated".

The statement requested privacy for the former couple and their two children.

Johnny and Vanessa met in 1998 and lived together with their kids, nine-year-old son, Jack, and 13-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, in France.
