O M actual G people. It's all over. The Voice has come to an end. No more Jessie banging on about voices, Will.I.Am incessantly saying dope, Tom doing his emotional Dad (slash granddad) bit or Danny being pretty in the corner (we're sure he said stuff too but anyway). After Bo, Vince, Leanne and Tyler sang their little hearts out for your votes, big old belty powerhouse Leanne was crowned The Voice of all voices, nabbing the record comtract and Tom's first victory (if he's coming back, which they haven't actually ironed out yet). But if you werenât there watching it all unravel - too many sherries at your Jubilee party? â" hereâs all the gossip in full. *cue dramatic music*
So the show kicked off with Holly going ALL OUT in the booby stakes, with a skin-tight, pleather strapless dress and that long ringletty hair we always try to do but never really quite works out. Then the judges came out and we were pleased to see Tom had dressed up for the occasion with a giant grey bow tie. Jessie was rocking a poker straight bob and another black pleather dress with a sheer skirt which she didnât change out of all evening. Câmon Jessie, it's The Voice live final. Tom, Danny and Will.I.Am made the effort with some quick changes and they're GUYS. Just saying.
Anyway it was straight into the singing with Bo up first for Team Danny. She sang âNothing Compares 2 Uâ in a super slinky grey dress, which was nice but a bit predictable if weâre honest. Holly got a bit cringe gushy saying âIf I could sing like you wouldn't bother with speakingâ â" sometimes we think you shouldnât bother speaking Holz. Bo went down well with the judges with Danny saying he âgot goosebumpsâ and Jessie saying it was âbeautifulâ and âuniqueâ. Tom said she was a âstylistâ and a âstorytellerâ â" so at least sheâs got a few back up career options there. Her duet with Danny was Read All About it â" if weâre honest the weirdness of Danny rapping was in danger of overshadowing Bo, but she was still pretty good. So good that Danny pretty much fell in love with her onstage (read about this here)
Next up was Leanne who got her big old voice around âA Manâs Worldâ in a sort of slinky black trousersuit which made the most of her curves. Jessie said she was âproud of her growthâ (sounds weird out of context) while Will said he was â1000 per cent sad when Ruth went home but way you sang now, Ruth is probably at home saying âWow you killed itââ Yeah we bet thatâs what was happening. She sang âMama told me not to comeâ with Tom in a lovely purpley-grey lace dress with mentor Tom giving her loads of encouraging/proud Dad/Granddad type looks. Maw.
Tyler â" looking lovely in a natty blue suit - kicked off his performances with Michael Jacksonâs âI'll Be Thereâ which the judges seemed to like â" Tom said heâs âput his whole life into itâ while Danny praised his âcrystal clear falsettoâ. We thought he sounded a bit like someoneâs mad granny, but we still liked it because heâs PRETTY. His duet with Will.I.Am was OMG and thatâs pretty much what we were thinking throughout. Or maybe OMFG. From swinging around aimlessly in the air, to the mad rapaoke, safe to say it wasnât the performance of the series. Or maybe it was. We want Will.I.Amâs sparkly gold loafers anyway. And his ace random dance moves that he literally couldn't stop doing.
Vince was last to sing, performing 'Many Rivers To Cross' by reggae singer Jimmy Cliff, which TBH we hadnât actually heard of before (soz muso types) and was okay but didnât really blow us away, although Will.I.Am said it was âdopeâ (obvs) and Danny said was âbrilliantâ â" so what do we know. Then he and Jessie did a pretty ace performance of Nobody's Perfect, which was heavy on the ad libs, and the black pleather. In fact when Holz came on to chat to them at the end it was a proper black pleath fest. Threeâs a trend people, threeâs a trend.
Ed Sheeran showed up to sing his song One And Only (sadly not the Chesney Hawkey song) looking a bit of a scruffbag, and then it was time for the first cull. *cue dramatic music again*
Vince was the shock first act out (more on this here), but was very nice about it saying âIt's been a fantastic experienceâ and âAll the other contestants are fantasticâ while cleverly taking the chance to mention his albumâs all done and ready to go. Jessie said some sort of flim-flammy stuff like âa winner is a winner before they win, winning isnât everything, the journey is more important.â Then we forgot about all that and focused on to who was going to be the actual winner-y winner.
Final three Bo, Leanne and Tyler then had to sing their fave song from the series. Bo sang Coldplay's âCharlie Brownâ in an amazing white feathery dress while Danny looked all loved up again. Leanne sang âRun To Youâ in lovely purple dress. We must say she looked very nice this evening. Well done Leanne. Or, you know, The Voice stylist. Then Tyler did another slightly mad falsetto vocal on âHigher Loveâ. But he did look very nice in his very tight brown shirt and trousers.
Then it was possibly the best bit of the whole series when all four of the judges got on stage to sing a medley of their own hits (we love a medley) before Maroon 5 performed their new song 'Payphone' and 'Moves Like Jagger' (we donât think thatâs technically a medley but we still liked it) and Adam Levine told the winner to "sing well" and "don't screw up". Thanks for that Adam.
Then it was judgement time *cue final bit of dramatic music* Weirdly there was no 'in third place' type build up, with Holly cutting straight to the chase to tell us Leanne had won. Lots of squealing followed, with Leanne looking like the happiest person in the world, Tom saying how proud he was and a massively noisy group hug which the mics picked up in full. And that was that! All over till next year, who in the heck knows will be sitting in those swivelly chairs (yay the swivelly chairs!).
So what did you think? Did the right singy lady win? Was favourite Bo robbed? Will you be watching next year? Tell us what you think. We like it when you do that.
