A flying start: Nicole Scherzinger trips up on first day as X Factor judge

Nicole Scherzinger’s first day as a full-time X Factor judge got off to a flyer â€" when she tripped up at the Newcastle auditions.

Minutes later, she was embarrassed again as the 5,000-strong crowd booed her opinions on an act.

The jeers came as she clashed with fellow judge Gary Barlow over singer Dale Howard, 17.

Gary liked him, saying he was “brilliant”, while Nicole described his performance as “shaky”.

Earlier Nicole, 33, tripped as she was going to her seat in the Metro Radio Arena in front of thousands of fans.

Her first words to the crowd were: “You guys didn’t see that trip, did you?”

After a laugh from the audience, the ex-Pussycat Doll groaned: “It is my first day, show me some love.”

Tough Nicole also slammed an act for trying to blame laryngitis as an excuse for wobbly vo cals.
