Calm your mothers, this isnât just a Careless Whisper: I can reveal Wham! are to reform.
This month marks the 30th anniversary of their first hit and Iâm told Slightly Older Guns George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley are planning to reunite for a âone-off pop extravaganzaâ to mark the occasion.
My insider tells me: âGeorge and Andrew have often said their Club Tropicana days are well behind them.
"But seeing as their anniversary coincides with George releasing new material, itâs one of those ânow or neverâ moments.
"They probably wonât do a long tour or release new material like Take That but they do want to commemorate the event with a big gig... and an even bigger party afterwards!
âThings are still in the early stages but everybody is getting really excited about it.â
Of course they are â" so am I!
"A reunion had been planned in 2006 at Georgeâs Wembley concert but Andrew was said to have been âtoo sick w ith nervesâ to join him on stage.
It was at the same venue, 20 years earlier, that the pair performed their final gig.
These days Andrew, 49, shuns the limelight, living quietly in Cornwall with his partner, Bananarama star Keren Woodward, while George, 48, remains a huge star and is to resume his Symphonica tour in September after recovering from life-threatening pneumonia.
Speaking about the release of his next single White Light, George â" who dined out in London with boyf Fadi Fawaz on Monday â" says: âOn June 29 it will be 30 years to the day that Wham Rap, our first single, entered the charts.
"To celebrate, Iâm releasing my new song. I dreamed of a career as a singer/songwriter from an early age but never could I have known Iâd still be here 30 years later, with much more music to give.â
Thatâs all very well, George, but please... give us more Wham!
